Nefandus: Colonial Sexual Alterity and Histories for the Future

The International Queer/Cuir VI
Nefandus: Colonial Sexual Alterity and Histories for the Future
Pérez Art Museum (PAMM)
September 23, 2016

Nefandus: Colonial Sexual Alterity and Histories for the Future brought together scholars and artists to present their work on colonial sexualities, the production of identity categories and the ways in which these processes of “modernization” informed the experience of sex and gender in post-colonial societies in the Middle East, South Asia and the Americas. Through a transnational approach, this symposium focused on diverse colonial histories and counter-narratives.

Nefandus: Colonial Sexual Alterity and Histories for the Future took place in the context of the exhibition Carlos Motta: Histories for the Future at PAMM, July 15, 2016 – January 15, 2017.
